I’m pleased to announce the successful upgrade of the Zone BBS from Mystic v1.12 A31 -> Mystic v1.12 A38!
I had attempted past upgrades and for whatever reason they never took and would randomly shutdown somewhere between 10min-45min later. However, last night (in the wee hours of the morning) I upgraded to A38 and was pleased to find it still running 5+ hours later.
Nets are still working, files still flowing, and door games are still playing!
The Zone was upgraded to Mystic v1.12 A34 today, however there were some stability issues encountered. The BBS would not stay up for more than 20 minutes before crashing.
I rolled the BBS back to a backup made right before the upgrade (yay for backups!) and everything has been working as expected.
I will work to get the Zone BBS upgraded to v1.12 A34 in the next few days, but for the meantime we’ll stay on v1.12 A31.
The fTelnet connect links are working correctly. They resumed normal operation as mysteriously as they ceased.
For some reason the fTelnet connect links aren’t working. I will be working to fix them over the next few days, as why it stopped working is a total mystery.
I’ve begun to work on the file areas. Today I’ve added two art groups, one for all of the ACiD Packs I can find, and another with all of the iCE Packs. I’m going to continue to add retro themed bases, such as BBS software, DOORs, text files, and other utilities I can scrounge up.
Keep an eye open for the changes, and keep on leeching! Of course, if you have anything you want to add feel free to upload it, or if you have a collection you think belongs here contact me and we can work out if it should be in it’s own base or not.
I stumbled onto this interesting article about how BBS’ing is still alive and well in 2017. It’s a short read and should be interesting to many enthusiasts.
This webpage will be under construction on and off for the foreseeable future, just like the Zone BBS. I hope to have it in a more manageable format soon, but I have to admit I absolutely despise working on webpages, so it will be slow. 😉
In the mean time, why don’t you visit the Zone BBS! You can connect via:
ssh://zonebbs.net:22 or telnet://zonebbs.net:23.
Also you can use the fTelnet client, by clicking connect. If you need, in the Downloads section you can acquire Netrunner, or SyncTerm, both are excellent to connect to the Zone BBS.
